Anxiety Therapy in Toronto

Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts at 2 a.m., a tight chest before a meeting, or a constant feeling that something is about to go wrong. Some worry is a normal part of life. When it starts shaping your choices, your sleep, or your relationships, talking with a therapist can help you understand what’s driving it and how to respond differently.

At Kalm Wellness Therapy we offer anxiety therapy at our North York office on Lawrence Avenue West and through secure online sessions for adults and teens across Canada.

Who anxiety therapy is for

Anxiety therapy may be a good fit if you:

  • Worry most of the day and find it hard to switch off
  • Avoid situations such as social events, driving, phone calls or work presentations because of fear
  • Have panic attacks, or worry about having another one
  • Feel physical symptoms like a racing heart, stomach upset, muscle tension or trouble sleeping
  • Struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing or procrastination driven by fear of getting it wrong
  • Feel anxious about your health, school, money or the future

You don’t need a diagnosis to start. Many people come in simply because they feel “on edge” and want to feel more settled.

Common reasons people reach out

Clients often seek anxiety support during transitions such as a new job, a move, a breakup, starting university, becoming a parent or immigrating to Canada. Others notice that anxiety has been with them for years and want to finally understand it. Anxiety also often overlaps with stress, low mood, sleep problems and past difficult experiences, and therapy can look at all of these together.

Approaches we use

Our therapists draw on several evidence-informed approaches and tailor them to you:

When anxiety is tied to past experiences, some therapists also use trauma-informed care or EMDR.

What sessions involve

Your first session is mostly about getting to know you: what anxiety looks like day to day, when it started, what you’ve already tried and what you’d like to change. From there, you and your therapist agree on goals and a pace that feels manageable. Sessions often mix conversation with practical tools such as breathing and grounding exercises, thought records or small, planned steps toward things you’ve been avoiding. You might be invited to practise between sessions. You stay in charge of what you share and how quickly you go.
