In-Person Therapy in North York

Sometimes it helps to step out of your everyday space and into a quiet room set aside just for you. At Kalm Wellness Therapy, our in-person sessions take place in our office at 534 Lawrence Ave W, Suite 221B, above the Scotiabank. It’s a calm, private place to slow down, talk openly and work through what’s on your mind with a Registered Psychotherapist.

What a session looks like

Your first session is a chance to get to know each other. Your therapist will ask about what brings you in, what you’d like to change and what has or hasn’t helped before. You decide how much you share and how fast you go.

From there, sessions are a mix of conversation, reflection and practical tools, matched to your goals. Some people like a structured approach with skills to practise between sessions. Others need room to talk things through. Your therapist will check in along the way to make sure the work feels useful to you.

Who in-person therapy is good for

In-person sessions can be a good fit if you:

  • Find it easier to open up when you’re face to face
  • Don’t have a private, quiet space at home for sessions
  • Want a clear break between therapy and the rest of your day
  • Are coming in as a couple or family and want to sit in the same room
  • Are interested in neurofeedback, which we only offer in person
  • Have children or teens who do best with hands-on art or play therapy

What we offer

  • Individual therapy for anxiety, stress, low mood, life transitions, relationships, self-esteem, grief and trauma
  • Couples therapy to improve communication, rebuild trust and work through conflict together
  • Family therapy to help family members understand each other and handle change
  • Neurofeedback (NeurOptimal), available in person only

Our therapists draw on a range of approaches, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), ACT, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, trauma-informed care, and art and play therapy. We’ll talk with you about which approaches suit you best.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with us.

What should I bring to my first session?
Just yourself. If you plan to use insurance, it helps to have your plan details handy. You’re welcome to write down a few thoughts beforehand, but you don’t have to.

Can I switch between in-person and virtual sessions?
Many clients mix both, depending on their week. Ask your therapist what works for your situation.

Is what I share kept confidential?
Yes. Our therapists are regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and follow its privacy and confidentiality standards. Your therapist will explain the few legal limits to confidentiality at your first session.
